I’m finding libcom’s commenters and writers discussions about “transsexuality” bleakly depressing. a supposed radical website and one writer, django, comments that transsexuality potentially “reifies” the gender binary.

what a waste. intellectual garbage. i am so tired of the symbolic politic being used as a conceptual framework to analyze people’s real ass lives. we are not dealing with psychopathic businessmen who are oppressing the masses (capital consolidation.. real capital oppression)… we are dealing with (often) impoverished individuals who are subjected to incredible discrimination and violence.

this is when post-marxist analyses make me wanna vomit. it’s almost like a badly written adbusters article continuing to whine and endorse the idealized perfection of anti-consumerism as a political answer to our disempowerment (above all).

how dare you as a supposed radical use objectified and idealized notions of theory to suppress the very complicated aspects of human experience. if something is being co-opted and then put into an institutional structure as a means of enforcing the “gender binary” upon us against our will then fine…. ! a critique is perhaps necessary of that institutional bias or oppression, but however, the individual’s struggle to figure out their gender is not a form of power threatening to the revolution.

an enforced (highlight enforced) concept of post-gender just really irks me. it reeks of similarity to the melting pot that was pushed in the eighties. i just find the imposition of critical “marxist” principles of capital onto transsexual bodies incoherent and stupid.

this theoretical perception is nothing more than a privileged pair of goggles flooded in paranoia that has very dangerous ramifications for the trans community.

ok fuck dan savage forever. i’ve always thought that guy was utter trash for all of the condescendingly smirky things he says about those excluded by the homo-normative community (something I have suffered from my entire out life).

reading all of this in succession like this really hits me in the face with how dangerous his ideologies and endorsements of them are in public newspapers.
